Seaway Recognized As 2014 Medical Design Excellence Award Winner

For 17 years the Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) program has honored advances in medical product design and engineering that improve the quality of healthcare delivery and accessibility. The awards celebrate the achievements of medical product manufacturers, their suppliers, and the many people behind the scenes—engineers, scientists, designers, and clinicians—who are responsible for the groundbreaking products that are saving lives and changing the face of medtech.

During last week’s 2014 Medical Design Excellence Awards ceremony in New York City, Seaway Plastics won the Gold Award (1st Place) in the Supplier Category for General Hospital Devices and Therapeutic Products. Our customer, Guided Therapeutics was honored as the “Manufacturer” while Big Bang Design was also recognized in the Supplier Category along with Seaway. Special thanks to Big Bang Design for having the faith in the Seaway team to get this job done and to the Seaway team that was directly involved in this project from the beginning.

Seaway is indeed “Reshaping the Quality of Life…one mold at a time!”

The picture includes the “LuViva” Guided Therapeutics unit that was on display in the Seaway booth during the Medical Design Manufacturing show this past week (along with Mark Vanhousen-Quality Engineer and Mike Burmeister-Program Manager).  Seaway built molds for 21 parts with 4 of the parts requiring over-molding.  The cosmetically critical large covers required the parts be processed in our new 950-Ton Nissei injection molding machine..
